Device Deduplication helps ensure every response in your survey comes from a truly unique device. By detecting and blocking multiple attempts from the same device, this feature strengthens your data integrity and protects against repeat participation that can bias results.

How It Works

When a participant enters your survey, dtect evaluates a set of technical signals associated with their device. If the same device is detected trying to access the survey more than once, subsequent attempts are blocked and flagged with a Security Terminate status.

This ensures that only the first valid attempt from a given device is accepted---safeguarding the uniqueness of your sample.

When to Enable

• Studies requiring high-quality, first-party responses

• Research with incentives where participants may be motivated to retake the survey

• B2B or niche audiences where sample pools are limited and overlap risk is high

Best Practices

1. Enable Early
Turn on Device Deduplication from the start of your project to prevent duplicate entries before they reach your survey.

2. Pair With Other Deduplication Features
Use in combination with IP Deduplication for layered protection against repeat participants.

3. Monitor for False Positives
Occasionally, shared devices (e.g., public computers or households) may trigger this feature. Review termination patterns and consult your Customer Success Manager if needed.
